I've confirmed and retitled this bug, because though the basic issue is still present, I think it unlikely that we would want to use ctrl-click for right click on OS X tiles; because this would idiosyncratically replace standard ctrl-click behavior in all other interfaces. (Though I guess this could still be on the table if someone wants to figure out what to do with standard ctrl-click). One change since the original description, now command-click doesn't do anything like right-click at all.
The current state of things, more or less the same as the original report: Normally, ctrl-click functions as a right click on OS X. This is shadowed by the usual use of ctrl-click in tiles, and I don't think we'd want to change that. However, this situation leaves as far as I can tell no way at all for OS X tiles users with a trackpad (for example) of doing a right click without enabling the chording to right click shortcut (two-finger click). Most users probably do have this enabled, but ideally there would be a keyboard-based modifier as well.
