Summary 0001836: Have tiles inventory provide more information.
Description First, show the item letters next to the items themselves. As a keyboard player, I find the tiles inventory very useful for keeping track of my scrolls and potions. However, if, looking at the inventory, I see a scroll I could use, I still have to find it again in the read menu.

Second, show pluses. I think that, if the inventory showed weapon and armor pluses, the only information about your items not available just by looking at the inventory would be artifact properties.

These two suggestions together would almost completely eliminate the need for a list-based inventory even for a keyboard tiles player.

The main problem would be overcrowding the item box, particularly for ammo, which has to fit 4 separate pieces of information in the box - the count, pluses, letter and brand. Everything else either doesn't stack or doesn't have pluses. However, the first suggestion alone wouldn't have this problem and would still make the tiles inventory more useful for keyboard players.

Displaying the slot letters is an interesting idea. This would make a nice option (default false), tiles_show_item_slots or similar, and I would use the upper right corner for this.

Seeing how armour and weapons don't need the quantity information, the enchantment _could_ be added there but I really think the upper left corner should be reserved for quantities. (Well, there's one exception already for wand charges.) Maybe use the lower left corner for that?
For weapons and rings of slaying I'd only display +dam seeing how that's usually more important.

I'd prefer to see both +hit and +dam, in the upper left and upper right corner respectively (characters may need to be shrunk down a tiny bit). I don't think displaying only one enchantment does much to help the player; if I care about the exact damage enchantment I probably care about the to-hit enchantment as well.
No item yet has two enchantments and a quantity, so it'd be perfectly doable to cram all five of these pieces of information into the tile, though of course at least one piece will lose its exclusive right to a corner.

For showing enchantment, I propose that instead of displaying + or -, the numbers be colored green or red, or maybe just white and red.

Also, the original rltiles set (in the repository history) contains letters and other symbols under rltiles/dc-misc/char*.bmp
